THE LEGACY WITHIN SERIES: Understanding Intergenerational Trauma in Clinical Practice

$69.00

The Legacy Within Series is a 5-session continuing education training designed to help clinicians deepen their understanding of intergenerational trauma and strengthen culturally responsive, trauma-informed practice. Grounded in frameworks such as Black Feminist Theory and Black Existential Theory, the series explores how historical and generational trauma can shape identity, coping, relationships, and clinical outcomes—particularly in work with Black women and families. Participants will learn how trauma is transmitted across generations, how it may appear in assessment and diagnosis, and how to use narrative and meaning-making approaches to support healing. The training also addresses ethical considerations, risks of misdiagnosis and over-pathologization, and clinician sustainability when holding complex trauma stories. Each session includes applied learning through discussion and guided clinical exercises so participants leave with practical strategies they can use immediately in treatment planning and practice.
