Bishop Dr. William Q. James, D.Min. is a pastor, counselor, chaplain, educator, and community leader with a deep commitment to helping individuals, families, and communities achieve emotional wellness, spiritual growth, and personal transformation. With a heart for service and a passion for healing, Dr. James brings together faith-based wisdom, counseling experience, and compassionate care to support people through life’s most difficult seasons.

Dr. James currently serves as the Senior Pastor of New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois, where he provides visionary leadership, pastoral care, biblical teaching, and community-centered support. His work focuses on strengthening individuals and families while advancing initiatives that promote wellness, resilience, and purposeful living.

As a counselor and chaplain, Dr. James has experience supporting individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, life transitions, and crisis situations. His approach is compassionate, culturally responsive, and grounded in both evidence-informed practices and faith-based principles. He is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space where individuals feel seen, heard, encouraged, and empowered to heal.

Dr. James has completed extensive training in Clinical Pastoral Education and has served in educational, clinical, behavioral health, crisis intervention, grief support, and community settings. His professional background allows him to provide meaningful support to individuals from diverse walks of life while helping them build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and discover lasting hope.

In addition to his ministry and counseling work, Dr. James is the co-owner of WVTC Gospel Radio & TV Network, where he hosts and produces programming focused on mental health awareness, leadership development, spiritual growth, and community empowerment.

Through his work, Dr. James remains committed to walking alongside individuals and families as they pursue healing, restoration, and emotional wellness.
